Mode of action
Peptidoglycon is the building block of bacterial cell wall. Amoxycillin inhibits the synthesis of peptidoglycon by blocking Peptidoglycon synthetase enzyme. So bacterial cell wall formation is inhibited. Without cell wall bacteria can not survive.

Indications
Genamox is indicated in the following bacterial infections :
Infections of the Respiratory Tract and Ear : Laryngitis, Pharyngitis, Tonsillitis, Sinusitis, chronic and acute Bronchitis, Pneumonia, otitis.
Infections of Biliary Tract and G.I.T : Salmonellosis, including carrier stage, Cholecystitis, Peritonitis.

Infections of the Genitourinary Tract
Nephritis, Pyelitis, Pyelonephritis, Cystitis, Urethritis and Gonorrhoea, Bacteriuria in Pregnancy, Gonococcal infections including purporal sepsis and septic abortion.

Skin and soft tissue infections
Boils, Carbuncles, Cellulitis, Pre and post operation prophylaxis and treatment of infections. Bacterial Endocarditis, Septicaemia, Osteomyelitis.

Prophylaxis of endocarditis
Genamox may be used for the prevention of Bacterimia, associated with procedures such as dental extraction in patients at risk of developing Bacterial Endocarditis.

Dosage and Administration
Adult : 250-500 mg 8 hourly Max. 4.5 gm daily.
Children : upto 10 years, 125 mg every 8 hours. double in severe infections.
