What is it?
Leflunomide is a Disease Modifying Anti Rheumatic Drug (DMARD) designed specifically to treat inflammatory arthritis.

How does it work?
Designed specifically to treat inflammatory arthritis, it works on the immune system and is able to slow down the progression of the disease, especially in the affected joints.

Mechansim of Action
Leflunomide is an isoxazole immunomodulatory agent which inhibits dihydroorotate dehydrogenase (an enzyme involved in denovo pyrimidine synthesis) and has antiproliferative activity. Several in vivo and in vitro experimental models have demonstrated an anti-inflammatory effect.

Dosage :
Arolef is usually started with a loading dose of 100mg per day for 3 dyas, followed by a maintenance dose of 20 mg per day.

Missed dose : 
If you miss a dose of this medicine, take it as soon as possible. However, if you do not remember the missed dose until the next day, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not double doses.

How should I take it?
The medication should be taken with a glass of water, with or without food.
