: Clobetasol propionate

What is Eclo?
Eclo (Clobetasol propionate) is a highly potent topical steroid containing Clobetasole Propionate BP 0.05% w/w.

Therapeutic uses and indications :

1. Initial control of all forms of hyper acute eczema in all age groups.
2. Chronic hyperkeratotic eczema of the hands and feet.
3. Chronic hyperkeratotic psoriasis of any area of the body.
4. Severe acute photosensitivity
5. Acute contact dermatitis
6. Hypertrophic lichen planus
7. Localized bullous disorders
8. Keloid scarring
9. Vitiligo

Mode of use :
For acute dermatitis twice daily application may be appropriate for short period of time eg. 1-2 weeks. As soon as is clinically feasible, treatment with clobetasol propionate should be discontinued and a less potent topical corticosteroid substituted. Dosage should not normally exceed 50gm per week and the duration of a course should generally not exceed 14 continuous days.
The potency of Clobetasol further increased by the use of occlusive dressings. Creams are most suitable for most dermatoses, but ointments are probably better for the treatment of dry scaly lesions.

Dosage and sdministration :
Apply sparingly 1-2 times daily for up to 2 weeks and massaged gently in to the skin. The frequency of appllication should be gradually reduced as condition responds.

Contra indications :

1. Cutaneuous infections
2. Infestations
3. Neonates ( 4. Acne vulgaris
5. Rosacea
6. Gravitational ulceration
7. Hypersensitivity reactions
