Iron, Folic acid & Zinc
Presentation :
Each capsule contains dried Ferrous sulphate BP 150.0 mg, Folic acid BP 0.5 mg,
Zinc sulphate monohydrate USP 61.8 mg.
Indications :
Folized is indicated for the treatment and prophylaxis of iron, folic acid and
zinc deficiency especially during pregnancy and lactation.
Dosage and administration :
Adult: 1 Folized capsule daily; in more severe cases, 2 Folized capsules daily.
Children: Age greater than 1 year 1 Folized capsule daily.
Side-effects :
Dark stools are usual during iron therapy, and nausea and other symptoms of
gastrointestinal irritation, such as anorexia, vomiting, discomfort,
constipation, and diarrhea is sometimes encountered. Zinc may also produce
gastrointestinal upset. Rare reports of allergic reactions.
Drug-interactions :
Iron and zinc chelate with tetracycline and absorption of all three agents may
be impaired. The absorption of zinc may be reduced in the presence of iron.
Absorption of iron may be impaired by penicillamine and by antacids. Separating
administration of each product by several hours interval can reduce such
potential interactions.
Commercial Pack :
Each box contains 5 blister strips of 10 capsules.
